I like to know how things work, even if, when things are explained to me, I’m left as confused (or more) as I begun.
Retro Games Mechanics Explained does exactly what says in the title: Explains the inner workings of old games, like how the vastly famous Mode 7 actually works, or how
sprites Objects are stored and displayed. For example, the treasure chests of The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past are actually two copies of what would be on “half” of the sprite; one of them is flipped horizontally and place it next to the other, and this reduces the amount of storage the cartridge would need.
There are not a ton of videos right now (guys makes them on his free time) but I bet you will find all of them very interesting!
